Wimbledon iPhone App Requires iOS 4

With the next iPhone, iPhone 5, rumored to be coming out this Fall I am NOT about to change my current iPhone. Which means I won't be able to follow 125th Wimbledon on my iPhone :o(

Installing Java / JDK / JRE on Ubuntu

OK, the only issue is that this is a VM (w/o a GUI), but why is it proving to be such a huge problem :o(

OK, so I forgot the root password, but do have access to sudo.

Downloaded the 30day Free trial - apparently it requires a key (that was never sent to me and cannot be found anywhere). So, I went and purchased the product - still no key.

Not sure if I should be excited or frustrated (I'm going with frustration for now), but our good friends at FB is now competing with google and yahoo and bringing us e-mail services too.

Unfortunately I have no hope that this is actually going to be a good thing (look at FB's photo service). For sure, I'm expecting that I am NOT going to be able to access this account via POP or IMAP (which google supports) or be able to support attachments or forward my e-mails to another account.

I am going to go on a limb and predict that they will allow me to forward e-mails from other accounts to FB.

It's difficult to have a discussion on Security Threat posed by geo tagged images without discussing the difference between Privacy & Security.

Gowalla on My iPhone

I have been using Gowalla for a few weeks now, very happily. It let's me "check-in" in restaurants or any "place" and then my "friends" on Gowalla can see that.

But, with my iPhone, I often end up in a situation where my location is grossly incorrect (upto 1.2Km off) and this causes a real issue. Gowalla will not allow me to check-in a location that I am that far away from (which makes sense) - but in my case, I actually am right there. It's my stupid iPhone that is reporting, incorrectly, that I am NOT there.

iPhone 4 is NOT 4G

I'm hating how too many people are assuming that the new iPhone 4 (the 4th generation iPhone) is for the 4G Network - it is NOT.

No Bluray on Mac

Why there is still no bluray on the Mac is something I simply don't understand.

iPhone 4

After much anticipation and rumor iPhone 4 was finally announced. As expected / anticipated it promises some new features (some definitely useful, but others questionable). But of the couple of things I was hoping for, for example:

• An Alternative to AT&T as the carrier
• Tethering
  

I is not being offered at all and the other is being offered at a fairly high premium.

Given my existing list of iPhone cons, I am seriously considering an alternative.

addressbook - keeping it updated and in sync

It's a struggle to say the least. But what's even more frustrating is the fact that with the various social / professional networking tools, i.e., Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIN, where my friends are already updating their own info - I am NOT able to leverage them to keep my addressbook(s) (of which I have several copies) in-sync or updated :o(

Unemployment

I hate how this information is used and calculated. And I hate, even more, how this information is used and perceived.

First off - the unemployment number is not how many people are out of work at any given time.
